As someone who speaks and coaches for a living I wanted to share with you a "dirty little secret" that most industry veterans don't want you to know. (Loud, forboding music.) :)

As you can see I was at the pool when I shot this but I think it's a really good first step that a lot of people can take if they're already speaking right now and are looking to get paid what they're worth as a speaker.

What's a good first step towards getting more paid speaking gigs? Well Popular Speaker & Coach Brian Hilliard says the answer lies a LOT closer than you might think.

This is something that I actually started doing awhile ago, and I think has been instrumental in me getting the attention of Program and Conference Chairs who are considering having me come in and speak.

A lot of people say that they want to get paid to speak. And for a lot of those folks (including myself when I was getting going), they let this common misconception hold them back when it comes to getting paid speaking gigs. :(
